Challenging Women to Read their Bibles

Bible Challenges for Women's Ministry

I think one of the biggest issues in women's ministry is motivating our women to read and study their Bibles on their own more. Reading the Bible daily and spending time with the Lord on our own helps us to grow as a Christian, but it also helps stabilize us emotionally too I think. The Bible grounds us. It gives us something to trust and to hold on to when life comes sucking all the air out of our sails.

As women's leaders, we rely too much on just the Bible studies done through our churches to meet the needs of our women. But there is such a flaw in that reasoning. We are not responsible for the total spiritual growth of our women. We have to teach them to take roots and grow and survive on their own. We need to stress the need for our women to get into the Word on their own.

One of the ways I think we can do this is just by challenging our women to read the Bible just a little bit at a time and to focus on one piece of the Bible at a time.

Types of Bible Challenges

I'm leaving you some different types of challenges below that you might want to motivate your women to try. If they are all doing it at the same time but on their own, they may be inspired to keep with it.

1.  Yearly Bible Reading Challenges

Read your Bible through in a year (You can find guides to use that's broken down of how much to read each day. Several websites offer free ones online. You can also find apps for them.)
