Bible Trivia for Women's Ministry

I read a few places recently that you shouldn't have any Bible trivia in your women's ministry programs. I was just like...What? I know that there are some shallow people out there calling themselves mentors and women's ministry advisors, but all of this flawed advice to tiptoe around people just to not make them feel bad is driving me crazy.

We should teach other women to know their Bible and trivia is a great way to do it. That's one of the ways I learned so much over the years from the time I was little to being an adult. It's challenging and motivating to me. Sure. You have to know your audience. I wouldn't do Bible trivia in an event where there are a lot of new Christians or visitors, but for your own core of church women who attend your meetings and events all the time, well those ladies need to get handy with knowing their Bible.

Trivia is a fun way to encourage Bible knowledge. You can use teams if you don't want the spotlight on one person. Teams for games always helps our women to feel less alone.

I look at Bible trivia as iron sharpening iron. We need to encourage each other in learning God's Word and every little bit helps. You can even make up flash cards for Bible information as a learning tool for your women.

We want our women to be able to grab that Scripture when asked to help lead someone to Christ, when asked to be an altar worker, and when in general someone wants to know what the Bible says about something. Our church women should be capable in Bible knowledge.

Look how well Jesus knew the Scriptures and how much He referred to them in daily living. And He sure wasn't afraid to ask questions. We have got to teach our women to be knowledgeable and contrary to popular opinion, that doesn't just come through group Bible studies. Just like in school we had to repeat those facts over and over and have quizes and tests to check our knowledge, we have to do that with God's Word. It's more important than school learning.

We need some Bible challenges in life. It amazes me that we have such a trivia obsessed world, but yet some "Christians" say we can't have Bible trivia? We have popular game shows full of trivia, game apps for trivia, and every British police drama in the world has an episode with a pub quiz (cause hey. I've watched them all.) There are people's heads full of sometimes just useless information. I mean we are a world obsessed with trivia. Can't we enjoy some Bible trivia?

Okay, I'm done with my rant. (on this page anyway)
