Testimonies - Telling Our Story

Testimonies - Telling Our Story

March 01, 2015

Our testimonies are stories that need sharing. As Christians we should be able to share with others what Christ has done for us. To start, do some thinking about it before you begin formulating your story to share your testimony.

Think About your Story

  1. Think about how you were before you met Christ.
  2. Think about what caused you to want to know Christ.
  3. Think about how you felt and the experience you went through when accepting Christ.
  4. Think about how you live your life now with Christ as your Savior.
  5. Think about how much you rely on Christ.
  6. Think about the hard times and the easy times (trials and blessings) that Christ has seen you through.
  7. Think about what your relationship is like with Christ now.

  8. Look what Jesus told the man that no one could control after he was healed. Jeus told him to share his story.

Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel. Mark 5:19 (KJV)
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: 1 Peter 3:15 (KJV)

    Review Your Story

Sometimes it helps to write your testimony by going back over your life and thinking about the whole experience of salvation again. What was happening before, during, and after? Write it all down so that you can look over it and pick out some things from your life that you can share in your testimony.

You of course won’t be using all of the material, but it will put it fresh in your mind so that you can start breaking down what you want to share in your story.

    Ready to Write Your Story?

    1. Pray over what you will write.
    2. Consider who you will be sharing your story with eventually.
    3. Consider the impact your story (testimony) can have on others.
    4. Be concise.

Writing and telling our stories isn't hard. Our stories are part of who we are and how far we have come. Sometimes we just need to think about it a little bit to put it into words.
