Simple Objective: Learn to make better choices.

Make it Personal: Share a choice you made that you regret or one in which the consequences weren’t what you expected.

And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat… Genesis 3:6 (KJV)

Everything about following Christ and learning to take His direction is all about the choices we make. It all goes back to to that very first choice to eat of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.

Remember Adam and Eve’s choice in the Garden of Eden? They chose to eat of the fruit that God told them not to eat. Yes! There were consequences. We as humans are still affected by what Adam and Eve chose to do on that fateful day so long ago.

It’s the same for us today. We still choose to sin or not to sin. It affects everything we do and every path we travel in life. And like that fruit looked to Eve in the garden, some choices just look so pleasant to us.

Are there choices in your life that you remember well because they affected the course of your life? Maybe you remember where you were. Maybe you remember who was there. Maybe you remember the smell in the air. Choices profoundly affect us.

I’m so glad that there are three wonderful things God gives us to help us with those choices.

  1. Prayer
  2. God’s Word
  3. The Holy Spirit

All three of those things can help us make better decisions and choices in our lives. After all, everything we do from the time we put our feet on the floor in the morning till we fall asleep at night is a choice.

So, do you need to make better choices?
