THE ORIGINAL SOURCE FOR WOMEN'S LEADERS SINCE 2001
I have taken several breaks from the internet and from being online over the last several years. Each time it really has helped clear the cobwebs out of my head. That is for sure! Back on one of my first breaks I summarized some of the things I learned from that first experience.
Breaking Good

Breaking from the internet can be a good thing! I hope that you will try breaking too, especially if you find yourself online more than offline. There is something about living in IRL (in real life) that can ground us.
How my Internet Break Has Helped Me
- I think more clearly.
- I don’t worry so much about what people think.
- I don’t feel like I’m being told what to buy or how to think.
- I have more time to do the things that I put off doing.
- I enjoy my daily life more.
- I enjoy my home more.
- I enjoy other people’s interaction more, such as my kids and family.
- I am more grateful for the things around me.
- My eyes don’t bother me as much.
- My hand and wrist don’t ache.
- I feel like I sleep better.
- I read books more.
- I finish projects or tasks more.
- I’m cooking better and healthier meals because I concentrate on meal planning more and trying new things.
- I feel like I’m more in the moment.
- I’ve lost that panic of checking emails, messages, comments, and all those things. I’ve learned they will wait indefinitely.
- I spend more time in prayer and personal worship.
- I feel like I actually relax when I sit down to relax.

Just a note: I've taken breaks at week, month, and several month intervals. The longer the breaks, the better I feel and better I focus.
