Updated page 7/12/2023.

Republishing from previous post of 11/06/2020.

I thought I would go ahead and republish this post as all my women’s ministry leader friends are starting to plan out their fall and Christmas events. Sharing those products that make nice party favor gifts for women’s ministry events and for party favors for women in general.

Top Picks for Women's Event Favors

I get questions all the time for my ideas on party favors, so I thought this might help some of you out. I’m not sure how many of you will be holding actual events this year, but since Christmas will be coming up before we know it, and these work well for stocking stuffers too.

These will be my top 5 practical favors. Not just “things”, but things that will more likely be used and not tossed.

My Top Five Women’s Party Favor Picks

These are what I consider useful things. I strongly dislike party and event favors that just get thrown away. And years ago I spent way too much time making little things for favors just because I thought they went with the theme or broad idea I was using for an event.

It wasn’t until years later that I realized I was just wasting my time because many times those party favors that I had spent time working on would end up in the trash, etc. I found my time was better spent at really thinking about it, researching it, and picking out useful things that would be appreciated. Not that I considered my time into ministry wasteful, but our time is a valuable commodity, and we are to use our time wisely in ministry just as in our daily living.

So, I started really looking at what could be useful to the women in my groups. I had to think of what they would like and not what I wanted for them. I had to get the idea that things had to “flow” with a theme out of my head and just be a little more practical.

These are the things I’ve found over the years of working with women’s ministry and doing women’s events that the women have really appreciated and found the most useful.

When it boils down to it, I’ve found women just enjoy the simple things more, so these are terribly simple things.

Here are my 5 picks

1. Bookmarks

Bookmarks are great because there comes a time when almost everyone needs one, even if it’s someone that doesn’t read a lot. And although a lot of people use only their Bible on devices, many of our women still read and carry an actual Bible in book form, so bookmarks are handy. Bookmarks are not an overbearing thing to walk away with at the end of an event. It can be tucked into a purse or Bible. It’s not a cumbersome thing. It’s not an in-your-face thing.

There are ones to embellish that are great for group crafting. And don’t forget to check out magnetic bookmarks. They come in a lot of fun styles and designs.

2. Socks or Footies

Okay, socks are a staple in our wardrobe, so I think it’s a perfect favor. You can’t get more useful than the socks on your feet. And gone are the days of dull socks. You can get them in all kinds, colors, and designs.

3. Lip Balm

Okay we all have lips. Right? And we all have the need to keep them moisturized and smooth, so lip balm is useful to most gals. Me especially because I tend to have the driest lips in the country! Ha-ha! Believe me! I have tried them all. In my acrylic makeup organizer, I have a drawer full of them from everywhere.

4. Hand Cream

Again, we all have hands to keep moisturized, so I think hand cream is a perfect favor for women.

5. Pretty Wrapped Candy

What?!!!
You say.

Isn’t that a little trite?
You say.

Well, yes. Maybe. But, I have found that women like a pretty wrapped piece of candy. Even those that don’t eat candy. Even those that maybe are on diets or can’t eat it themselves for some reason. Women will take that pretty wrapped candy and enjoy it themselves or take it and give it away to their husbands or grandkids or even a friend. I find a prettily wrapped piece of candy can do wonders for a person, so it made number 5 on my list. Dove candies have always been one of my favorites to give away, but coffee flavored ones, and mini chocolate bars in general get my vote.

Alright. There you have it. My 5 top picks for women’s favors. Yep. They are all very simple things. I’ve found that women like simple things.

  • They like things that aren’t cumbersome to take away from an event.
  • They like things that they don’t feel obligated to keep.
  • They like things that they don’t feel is “trash”.
  • They like things that fit into a simple everyday routine.

TIP: Be sure to look at gift sets that have several items inside, especially around Christmas. Pretty gift sets that you get at a discount can be taken apart for individual favors. It sometimes will save you quite a bit of money.

One of the things I like about these simple things I listed is that you can just doll any of them up with a pretty ribbon and tie into a bow or add a pretty gift tag to it. Simple. Effective.

How about you women’s ministry leaders? What have you found is the most useful or practical favors that the women in your groups have enjoyed? Leave a comment. I love hearing from you. And when you leave a comment, you may help someone else out as well.

Have a lovely day,
Julia
