Kitchen Party Event Theme

Someone asked in my FB group about a “kitchen” theme and I knew I had some ideas for it. I had originally intended making it a bridal shower theme, but I think it will work well for all kinds of women’s events. I actually was part of a similar one years ago, so I know it can be fun!

Kitchen Shower Event Theme

This would make a good theme around Mother’s Day or even for a mother’s (or aunt or grandma) birthday party.

Loved ones and friends in the kitchen are always a blessing.

Kitchen Party Theme Concept

—March 12, 2022

Each theme will have one or several possible spiritual applications. I give you lots of info and ideas—You pick just a few to enhance your event. More ideas can be used for showers and parties, but less is always more for ministry events.

Puns to Ponder

Yep! I thought I’d make a whole other category with this theme. There are just so many fun (and crazy) kitchen puns out there that let’s just take advantage of them.

  • Use them to design and print out. Put in frames for decoration.
  • Use the utensil related ones as favor ideas. Get the appropriate utensil to use as favors and make the pun as a gift/favor tag.
  • Use one for a jumping off point for a devotional or article.

Here are a few examples to show you what I’m talking about. I have some food ones too, but I don’t have those typed up yet. These ones are more kitchen utensils/items. I’ll share the food list one soon.

  • Be grateful (grater)
  • Keep rolling along (rolling pin)
  • Spread the joy of the Lord (spatula)
  • God’s Word is sweet (honey dipper)
  • Keep holding on to Jesus (pot holder)

Ice Breakers

Guess the Spice

Have various spices poured out into tiny containers for your guests to try to guess what they are. Use mini bowls or ramekins, or even make a display of spoons with spices poured on them. Be sure to lay something down underneath like a large dishtowel or put them on a tray.

Make sure you use at least a couple that are easy to identify. Label with numbers and have your guests write their answers on an answer sheet.

Tell them “smelling” and “looking” is okay, but no “touching” the spices.

Discussion Questions:

  • What’s your fondest kitchen memory?
  • How much time do you spend in the kitchen?
  • What’s the kitchen utensil you love and use the most?
  • If you were a kitchen utensil, what would you be (and why)?
  • Do you have a table (or eating spot) in your kitchen?
  • Does your kitchen have a predominant color or theme?
  • What’s sitting out right now on your kitchen counter?
  • What’s under your kitchen sink?
  • What would your dream kitchen look like?
  • Did you leave any dishes in your sink before you came today/tonight?
