Hosting a Pineapple Theme Event

Pineapples are the thing that people throughout history have associated with hospitality, so it makes a good basis for an event theme.

Be a Pineapple— Stand tall. Wear a crown. Be sweet on the inside.

So that’s another possibility for you.

Pineapple Event Concept

The event themes on the website can be used for showers, parties, women’s ministry retreats and activities, or church functions. Each theme will have one or several possible spiritual applications. I give you lots of info and ideas—You pick just a few to enhance your event. More ideas can be used for showers and parties, but less is always more for ministry events.

Devotional and Workshop Ideas

Simple Decorating

  • Tray filled with hospitable type items.
    • pineapple
    • teacup and saucer
    • Chalkboard welcome sign
    • Line with tea towel or pretty dish towel.

Favor Ideas

  • Hand Fans (if you are playing off of “Southern Hospitality”)
  • Chocolate mints as you would find on your pillow in a hotel
  • Mini jars of pineapple preserves. Find an easy recipe here. (Accidental Baker Blog)
  • Dried pineapple rings or dried pineapple chunks. Use glassine bags and put just a few in each bag. Fold down the tops and place a pineapple sticker to seal it.
  • Pineapple key chains
  • Pineapple lip balm. (Burt Bees brand has one.)

Door Prizes

  • Single Pineapple (Tie on a big ribbon)
  • Anything embellished with a pineapple design
  • Doorknocker
  • Apron
  • Gift Basket of goodies (Include a pineapple!)

Just for Fun

B&B

  • Set up your area as a B&B or hotel.
  • Have a sign in desk, activity sign-ups (for whatever is on your agenda for the meeting/event), a concierge, hotel “workers”, etc.
  • Be sure to give them name badges and responsibilities for the event.
  • Make everyone feel like “guests”.

Play off of “Southern” Hospitality

  • Have the ladies in your group dress for the occasion with gloves, hat, etc. as Southern Belles.
  • Serve tea or lemonade.

Hospitable Home

  • Share tips for preparing your home for guests.
  • Share some information and facts on pineapples.  Maybe put a few typed out in your program material.

Food and Serving Ideas

  • Appetizers fit for company
  • Home-style meal such as meatloaf/potatoes
  • Pineapple Dishes such as pineapple chicken, cake, bars, smoothies.
  • Serve dip in a pineapple boat (check online for directions)
  • Just serve sweet tea (and unsweetened too) and a dessert
  • Serve a punch made with pineapple juice as one of the ingredients.
