Pink Rain Breast Cancer Awareness

Postby Dyna64 » Mon Oct 12, 2009 5:53 pm

I wanted to share a few pictures of our Pink Rain Event. We only had 17 women attend, but it was a fun and informative evening.

Thanks, Dyna64. Monday, Oct 19, I have planned a similar night for our ladies. I'll be thrilled if 17 make it!! The theme: "The Power of Pink and Chocolate, Evening of Dessert" The lady who does the mammograms at the local hospital is coming to share about women's health and is bringing some information packets. I'll try to attach some photos when it's over. We are having pink desserts and a chocolate fountain with fruit, pink and brown marshmallows and pound cake. Each lady will go home with a pink gift of some sort. I had found a choc chip cookie mix in a jar recipe and will be giving that the the guest speaker. It called for pink M&Ms but couldn't find them and didn't want to order online, so I took some Pink Wilton coloring paste and tinted white choc chips and layered them along with the choco chips. I found pink and brown fabric to cover the lid. On the brown plates for each guest there will be a small card that I printed a poem about how the rose is likened to a woman and on the back, I copied the 5-Minute choc cake in a mug recipe!! Each lady will also receive a Hershey mini candy bar wrapped in a mini wrap with the breast cancer awareness ribbon on it. I've had a lot of fun putting this together. I'm using Nicole Johnson, DVD "Stepping in the Ring" that I ordered from amazon. It has several short segments of her dramatizations of different aspects in women's life that I plan on using at different ladies' meetings. I am doing some chocolate facts and have a game "Name the candy bar." There are 24 candy bars on a sheet of paper that are cut away cross-wise so you can see the interior. They are to name them. It will be a fun and informative evening.

I too used "Stepping Into the Ring"! I LOVE how that video has several different subjects for use later. I purchased mine from her website, and also purchased a couple of the Pink boxing gloves. One lady recently had a double masectomy, and we presented her with a pair of them in honor of her courage and strength. I also passed out chocolate after watching the video, going along with Nicole's comment about chocolate not having medicinal purposes. I told them that I was sure that if we searched the internet, SOMEONE would claim that it does in fact have healing properties. I'll be praying for a successful and educating evening for you. Let us know how it goes! God Bless!

Thanks for the ideas. They really sound interesting and has a theme that I am interested in due to two of my sisters being diagnosed with breast cancer. I also had a really bad scare a few years ago but mine were benign but I do keep a constant check. It would be great information for those ladies that do not have a family history that they really need to be checked on a regular basis. The sister that had to go through the chemo and radiation had been checked every years since she was in her thirties but still it had moved so quickly. Praise God, since having it removed she has not had any reoccurrences.
