Lighted Glass Blocks

Postby Lalyfa » Sat Oct 31, 2009 5:51 am

Hi everyone!
I just discovered these glass blocks and think they are beautiful! I was wondering if anyone here has made any of these and have any tips or even pics of them? I love them and am hoping to make a few for Christmas gifts. I was able to get used blocks off CL. I'm anxious to see yours so please post a pic if you've made any. Here's a one link to view:

Thanks,

Our ladies Auxiliary group just made these to sell at our local craft fesival. They were very easy to do, but one suggestion, if you have to cut the holes in them, be sure to use a drill with water, because the glass and dust from cutting them gets in the blocks and is very hard to get out, but we were told if you drill them with water that will help. We also found out after we did them, that we should have drilled a hole for the lights and then a little hole on the opposite side for a vent. But ours turned out really nice, unfortunately we didn't sell many, but the ones left we are giving to the wives of our missionaries that are coming to visit in a few days, and the rest we are going to decorate for our Christmas dinner with them.

Thanks for the tips. I read about using water on the drill bit so I plan to do that. I haven't heard about the little hole for the vent though. Is it just for the heat from the lights?
